Producing and Lodging Your TPAR in MYOB

This is part of our Bills, Expenses and Contractors series (Chapter 4 of the MYOB tutorial hub):

Once your reportable contractors are set up through the year, producing the TPAR itself is fairly straightforward.

1. Generate the TPAR report

Under reporting, MYOB pulls together all payments made to reportable contractors through the year into one report.

2. Review the figures carefully

Check contractor details, ABNs and total payments look correct before lodging, since errors here can trigger a follow-up from the ATO.

3. Lodging directly to the ATO

MYOB can lodge the TPAR directly, without needing a separate portal, once you have reviewed it.

4. Meeting the 28 August deadline

TPAR is due by 28 August each year, so it is worth starting the review a few weeks earlier rather than leaving it to the last day.

MYOB Academy covers TPAR lodgement: watch the official MYOB tutorial. Our registered BAS agents can prepare and lodge this on your behalf.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I lodge my TPAR late?

Late lodgement can attract ATO penalties, the same as other overdue obligations. If you’re running close to 28 August, it’s worth starting your review now rather than waiting.

Do I need to lodge a TPAR if I didn’t pay any contractors this year?

If your business is in an industry required to report (like building and construction, cleaning, or courier services) but you didn’t pay any contractors, you generally still need to lodge a nil TPAR, or notify the ATO you don’t need to lodge.

Can my bookkeeper lodge the TPAR for me?

Yes, a Registered BAS Agent can prepare and lodge your TPAR on your behalf, the same way they handle your BAS.
