Setting Up Reportable Contractors for TPAR in MYOB

This is part of our Bills, Expenses and Contractors series (Chapter 4 of the MYOB tutorial hub):

  • Lesson 1: Entering and Tracking Supplier Bills in MYOB
  • Lesson 2: Capturing Receipts with MYOB Assist and the Mobile App
  • Lesson 3: Setting Up Reportable Contractors for TPAR in MYOB
  • Lesson 4: Producing and Lodging Your TPAR in MYOB

If you are in building, cleaning, courier or a handful of other industries, contractor payments likely need to be reported to the ATO each year.

1. Check whether TPAR applies to you

TPAR applies to specific industries paying contractors for services, so confirm your business is actually required to lodge before assuming otherwise.

2. Marking a contact as reportable

In the contact’s settings, there is an option to flag them as reportable for TPAR, which then tracks their payments automatically through the year.

3. Checking their ABN is recorded

Make sure each reportable contractor has a correct ABN recorded, since this is required information for the report.

4. Reviewing as you go

Checking your reportable contractor list periodically through the year is easier than trying to reconstruct it all at once come reporting time.

MYOB Academy has TPAR setup guides: watch the official MYOB tutorial. Our registered BAS agents can confirm whether TPAR applies to your business.
