Capturing Receipts with MYOB Assist and the Mobile App
This is part of our Bills, Expenses and Contractors series (Chapter 4 of the MYOB tutorial hub):
- Lesson 1: Entering and Tracking Supplier Bills in MYOB
- Lesson 2: Capturing Receipts with MYOB Assist and the Mobile App
- Lesson 3: Setting Up Reportable Contractors for TPAR in MYOB
- Lesson 4: Producing and Lodging Your TPAR in MYOB
Capturing receipts the moment you get them saves a scramble at BAS time trying to remember what a faded receipt was even for.
1. What MYOB Assist actually does
It reads a photographed receipt and extracts the key details automatically, ready to enter as a transaction.
2. Using the mobile app on site
Snap a photo the moment you get a receipt, so nothing gets lost between the job site and doing your books later.
3. Reviewing extracted details
Always double check the extracted amount and supplier before confirming, since automated extraction is not always perfect.
4. Making it a habit, not an afterthought
The value comes from capturing receipts as you go, not batching them up weeks later when details are harder to remember.
MYOB’s official YouTube channel has a walkthrough of the mobile app: watch the official MYOB tutorial. Our tradie bookkeeping service can help you build this into your routine.
We'll only use it to follow up on your feedback \u2014 never for anything else.
