A single trip to the hardware store often covers several different types of expense, and line item extraction handles that automatically.
1. What it actually does
Rather than treating a whole receipt as one expense, Dext can extract individual line items and code each one separately.
2. A practical example
A single Bunnings or Reece docket covering materials, tools and consumables can be split into the correct category for each item, rather than lumped together.
3. When it is worth using
This is most useful for suppliers where a single visit regularly covers multiple expense categories, rather than every single receipt.
4. Reviewing the split before publishing
Check the automatic split looks right before publishing, since a complex receipt is more likely to need a manual adjustment.
Dext’s official YouTube channel covers line item extraction: watch the official Dext tutorial. Our tradie bookkeeping service can help set this up for your regular suppliers.
We'll only use it to follow up on your feedback \u2014 never for anything else.
