Using Receipt Snap in QuickBooks to Capture Receipts

This is part of our Banking, Receipts and Reconciliation series (Chapter 3 of the QuickBooks tutorial hub):

  • Lesson 1: Connecting Your Bank Feed to QuickBooks
  • Lesson 2: Categorising and Reconciling Transactions in QuickBooks
  • Lesson 3: Using Receipt Snap in QuickBooks to Capture Receipts
  • Lesson 4: Emailing Receipts and Bills into QuickBooks

Receipt Snap lets you capture a receipt with your phone and have it automatically matched to the right bank transaction.

1. How Receipt Snap works

Photograph a receipt through the mobile app, and QuickBooks extracts the key details and looks for a matching transaction.

2. Capturing receipts on the job

Snap a photo the moment you get a receipt, so nothing gets lost between the job site and doing your books.

3. Reviewing suggested matches

Confirm the suggested match is correct before it is finalised, since automated matching is not always perfect.

4. If there is no matching transaction yet

The receipt is stored and can be matched later once the corresponding bank transaction comes through.

QuickBooks Australia’s official YouTube channel has a Receipt Snap walkthrough: watch the official QuickBooks tutorial. Our tradie bookkeeping service can help you build this into your routine.
