Understanding MYOB Products and Choosing the Right One

This is part of our Getting Started with MYOB Business series (Chapter 1 of the MYOB tutorial hub):

  • Lesson 1: Understanding MYOB Products and Choosing the Right One
  • Lesson 2: Setting Up Your MYOB Business File
  • Lesson 3: Building Your Chart of Accounts in MYOB
  • Lesson 4: Using MYOB Solo for Sole Traders and Freelancers

MYOB offers several products aimed at different sized businesses, and picking the right one from the start saves you switching later.

1. MYOB Solo

Built for sole traders and freelancers who need simple invoicing and expense tracking without full double entry bookkeeping.

2. Business Lite and Pro

Lite covers core invoicing, expenses and banking for a small business. Pro adds inventory management and multi-currency, useful once your business gets more complex.

3. AccountRight

MYOB’s more established product, often used by businesses with more complex inventory, job costing or multi-entity needs.

4. Matching the plan to your business

Most sole traders and small trade businesses do well starting on Solo or Lite, moving up only if inventory or complexity genuinely demands it.

MYOB Academy has comparison guides for each plan: academy.myob.com. Our registered BAS agents can help you weigh up which plan actually fits your business.
