Matching and Categorising Bank Transactions in MYOB
This is part of our Banking and Reconciliation series (Chapter 3 of the MYOB tutorial hub):
- Lesson 1: Connecting Bank Feeds in MYOB via Open Banking
- Lesson 2: Matching and Categorising Bank Transactions in MYOB
- Lesson 3: Setting Up Bank Rules in MYOB
- Lesson 4: How to Do Your Bank Reconciliation Correctly in MYOB
Once your bank feed is connected, matching and categorising transactions is where the daily bookkeeping actually happens.
1. Review incoming transactions
Each transaction from your bank feed appears in a queue ready to be matched or categorised.
2. Matching to invoices and bills
MYOB will often suggest a match against an existing invoice or bill, which you confirm with a click.
3. Categorising anything unmatched
For anything without an existing match, assign it to the right category so your reports stay accurate.
4. Doing it little and often
Matching transactions weekly, rather than letting them pile up, makes the whole process far less overwhelming.
MYOB’s official YouTube channel covers transaction matching: watch the official MYOB tutorial. If this has piled up, our rescue bookkeeping service can help you catch up.
We'll only use it to follow up on your feedback \u2014 never for anything else.
