Understanding MYOB AI BAS

This is part of our GST, BAS and Reporting series (Chapter 6 of the MYOB tutorial hub):

  • Lesson 1: How MYOB Records GST Automatically
  • Lesson 2: Creating and Completing Your BAS in MYOB
  • Lesson 3: Lodging Your BAS and IAS Directly from MYOB
  • Lesson 4: Understanding MYOB AI BAS
  • Lesson 5: Essential Reports to Check Regularly in MYOB
  • Lesson 6: Adding Users and Inviting Your Accountant in MYOB

MYOB has introduced AI-assisted BAS checking, which flags issues before you lodge rather than after the ATO asks questions.

1. What AI BAS actually checks

It reviews your transactions for things like missing receipts, unusual GST coding, or figures that look out of step with your normal pattern.

2. Which plans it is rolling out to

AI BAS is rolling out across MYOB’s Solo, Lite and Pro plans, so availability may depend on which plan you are on.

3. Reviewing what it flags

Treat flagged items as a prompt to double check, not an automatic error, since the tool is assisting your review rather than replacing it.

4. Still worth a professional review

AI checking is a helpful extra layer, but it does not replace having a registered BAS agent review anything genuinely uncertain.

MYOB’s official YouTube channel covers AI BAS: youtube.com/@MYOBAustralia. Our registered BAS agents are always the final check before anything is lodged.
