Setting payroll up correctly from the start avoids a lot of correction work once real wages are involved.

1. Enable payroll for your business

Under payroll settings, step through your business details, pay calendar and bank account used for pay runs.

2. Understanding what payroll costs

Payroll is a small per employee add-on on Lite and Pro plans, while it is included as standard in AccountRight.

3. Setting up your pay items

Pay items cover things like ordinary hours, overtime and allowances, each needing to be set up correctly before your first pay run.

4. Choosing your pay calendar

Set weekly, fortnightly or monthly to match how you actually pay your staff.

MYOB Academy has a full payroll setup course: watch the official MYOB payroll playlist. Our registered BAS agents can review your payroll setup before you go live.
