TPAR Reporting for Contractors in QuickBooks

This is part of our GST, BAS and Reporting series (Chapter 5 of the QuickBooks tutorial hub):

  • Lesson 1: How QuickBooks Tracks GST on Every Transaction
  • Lesson 2: Preparing and Lodging BAS from QuickBooks

If you are in building, cleaning, courier or a handful of other industries paying contractors, TPAR is likely a yearly obligation.

1. Check whether you need to lodge

TPAR applies to specific industries paying contractors for services, so confirm your business is actually required before assuming otherwise.

2. Marking contractors as reportable

In supplier settings, contractors relevant to TPAR can be flagged so their payments are tracked automatically through the year.

3. Reviewing the TPAR before lodging

Check contractor details, ABNs and total payments look correct before submitting.

4. Lodging by 28 August

QuickBooks can lodge the TPAR directly to the ATO once reviewed, using the same connection as your other lodgements.

QuickBooks Australia’s official YouTube channel covers TPAR: youtube.com/@QuickBooksAU. Our registered BAS agents can confirm whether TPAR applies to you and lodge it on your behalf.
