Connecting Dext to Xero
This is part of our Publishing to Your Accounting Software series (Chapter 4 of the Dext tutorial hub):
- Lesson 1: Connecting Dext to Xero
- Lesson 2: Connecting Dext to QuickBooks Online
- Lesson 3: Connecting Dext to MYOB
- Lesson 4: Reviewing and Publishing Documents Safely in Dext
- Lesson 5: Setting the Right GST Codes Before Publishing from Dext
Connecting Dext to Xero means coded documents flow straight through, without needing to re-enter anything.
1. Authorising the connection
From Dext’s settings, connect to Xero and log in to authorise access.
2. Syncing your chart of accounts and tax rates
Once connected, Dext pulls in your chart of accounts, suppliers and tax rates from Xero, so coding matches what already exists.
3. Mapping tracking categories if you use them
If you use Xero tracking categories, these can also sync through, letting you tag documents at the coding stage.
4. Testing with a single document first
Publish one document first to confirm everything lands correctly in Xero before processing a larger batch.
Dext’s Help Centre has a dedicated Xero setup guide: watch the official Dext tutorial. Our registered BAS agents can help get this connection set up correctly.
We'll only use it to follow up on your feedback \u2014 never for anything else.
