Lodging Your BAS Directly from Xero
This is part of our GST, BAS and Compliance Reporting series (Chapter 6 of the Xero tutorial hub):
- Lesson 1: How Xero Tracks GST on Every Transaction
- Lesson 2: Preparing Your Activity Statement in Xero
- Lesson 3: Lodging Your BAS Directly from Xero
- Lesson 4: Setting Up and Lodging TPAR in Xero
Xero can lodge your Activity Statement directly with the ATO, without needing to log into a separate portal.
1. Connecting Xero to the ATO
This uses the same ATO connection set up for STP reporting, authorising Xero to lodge on your behalf.
2. Review one more time before lodging
Once you lodge, it is submitted to the ATO, so this is the last chance to catch anything before it is final.
3. Submitting the lodgement
From the finalised Activity Statement, there is a direct lodge option that sends it straight to the ATO.
4. Keep a copy for your records
Xero retains a record of what was lodged and when, which is useful if you ever need to refer back to it.
Xero’s YouTube channel covers direct BAS lodgement: watch the official Xero tutorial. Our registered BAS agents handle this lodgement for our clients as standard.
We'll only use it to follow up on your feedback \u2014 never for anything else.
